Stevenson, MD: Overview
Stevenson is an unofficial Maryland community located in Baltimore County and the census-designated place of Pikesville. It is named after the main road of the same name, and is primarily a residential community. Stevenson is located just seven miles from Towson, MD and is approximately 12 miles north of downtown Baltimore. Stevenson is part of the Green Spring Valley Historic District, which is a suburban community in Baltimore. The Valley got its name from housing an impressive collection of historical buildings, some predating the 18th century.

Stevenson is mainly a residential area. It is, however, home to Stevenson University (a private university with approximately 4,300 students) and the historic Fort Garrison. Stevenson residents enjoy rock climbing, kayaking, running obstacle courses, seeing the sights and walking along the tulips in Sherwood Garden, and relaxing at the Cylburn Arboretum. There are also a number of cruise and charter ships nearby.
